Description
If you’re wanting to escape the hustle and bustle, this charming Corfu retreat should be at the top of your list. A stay at Villa Erato, surrounded by the dense Corfiot countryside, is all about relaxation and tranquility. Wake up every morning to a sprawling backdrop of decadent orange groves, rolling green hills, and verdant vineyards. Located on the edge of the island’s golden southern coastline, in just a few steps you’ll reach a beautiful stretch of rugged shore. Set within Chalikounas, life here is low-key and laid-back, with a modest selection of restaurants and cafés lining its streets. If you want to turn things up a notch, you’re just a short drive from the thriving resort of Messonghi.
The best part? It has to be the glorious grounds, with a vast stone terrace fringed by palm trees and lush greenery and backed by a spectacular, soaring mountainscape. Embrace the enchanting coastal setting by heading to the upper balcony, where you can unwind with a glass of bubbly and stare out across the glistening Ionian Sea. Soak up the serene rural setting on a sun lounger, or escape the Greek heat by diving into the sparkling swimming pool. With such an incredible outdoor space, dinners at Villa Erato are best served outside in the crisp sea breeze. There’s an alfresco dining table and barbecue set up under a quaint veranda, with another table positioned poolside and a final one under the pergola—perfect for family feasts whilst watching the sensational sunsets.
The picturesque architecture of the village is echoed in the exteriors of Villa Erato, with a blend of peach-hued exteriors, rustic white stone facades, and terracotta tile roofs. The charm continues inside, with the interiors seamlessly blending tradition with chic contemporary style. We’re in awe over the living space, as it overflows with opulence thanks to its avant-garde wallpaper, sleek décor, and high-end lighting fixtures. A beautiful stone-built fireplace takes centre stage in the living room, surrounded by a plush sofa set and white wooden furnishings. Follow through the dining pavilion to the country-chic Victorian kitchen, featuring old-style wooden cabinets and a quaint breakfast bar in the middle. While you’ll find 2 bedrooms downstairs, upstairs is the spacious master bedroom suite, with a king sized bed, office area and an ensuite bathroom boasting both a super modern shower and full whirlpool bath. This bedroom leads gracefully out to the upper private balcony with glorious views.
Please note Villas Kalipso and Erato share a main gate and driveway but have separate parking areas and totally separate entrances to each villa. In the entrance area there is a shared children’s playground on grass, available for the use of clients from both villas.
There is an additional studio cottage available for an additional 2 guests on request. This is reached by a separate path through the garden and is totally independent.
